The international balance of power is a tradition in international politics that was formally instituted after the defeat of Napoleon in 1815. It has seen some rough usage since then, but it has proven to be the best system for avoiding war. It is a natural antidote for the destructive effects of diplomatic anarchy.<BR>
The balance of power is now suspended & has been for several years now. No one power can stand against the United States of America. <BR>
Alliances to counteract this situation are in the making at this time. The inherent contradictions of the capitalistic economic order are falling into place. There is no end to history. <BR>
The "pre-emptive strike" (a term first used by the Japanese to describe their attack on Pearl Harbor) initiated by the USA against Iraq has been a lesson for the other powers in the world. <BR>
The United Nations Organization is irrelevant. NATO is in for a reshuffling, reincarnated as the Warsaw Pact <I>sans </I>Russia. The New World Order is in the process of formation.<BR>
