Like many who've written recently, I'm pretty much totally quiet on
this list. But I do read it and have read every single message since
Saturday night, when all this began to become known. Friends, I still
can't believe it. I read down the list of messages in my inbox and I
just can't shake the feeling when I first read the first post about
it, that it couldn't be true, and so now I look at the all these
subject lines and it's almost as if I'm thinking "how odd that these
posts are here, they can't be true because it's DFW, it's the guy we
talk about, he can't be gone."

I'm surprised at how this is affecting me. I haven't really been able
to talk to many people about it -- I just go to work and try not to
let anyone see me tearing up at my desk. I've done a lot of listening
to brooding music and just trying to process it. I'm so sad for him,
that he had to struggle with this disease, and frustrated that there
wasn't something else that could be done to help. And when I read all
the wonderful memories being shared here, and on the Pomona page, and
others, it astounds me how inspiring he was, to so many people and in
so many ways. What an indescribable loss.

Thank you, all of you.
