Welcome to the jelindem_kmfdm mailing list!

If you ever want to remove yourself from this mailing list,
you can send mail to "Majordomo@majordomo.ucs.indiana.edu" with the
following
command
in the body of your email message:

    unsubscribe jelindem_kmfdm

Here's the general information for the list you've
subscribed to, in case you don't already have it:
[Last updated on: Fri Feb 13 5:44:30 1998]

WELCOME... TO THE WORLD OF KMFDM-LISTE!

HAPPY TO INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR NEW MAILING LIST...
For some unknown reason, no lasting KMFDM mailing list has been created.
I'm trying to change that, and perhaps the band will want to as well.
If , whose US sales and exposure alone lag far behind KMFDM, already
has a mailing list , then why doesn't KMFDM?!
The main topics expected to be discussed include KMFDM [of course],
Excessive Force, , other side projects [En Esch, etc.] and
remixes. Even TKK and Rammstein could come up, due to remixes, touring,
and the like. As long as it can be related to KMFDM in some way [now don't
run away with this...], it's perfectly acceptable. Expect talk about
concert dates, locations, general info, equipment, releases [new, old,
rare], favourite tracks/albums, merchandise, new 'members', side projects,
band members, and anything else having to do with KMFDM!

                   RULES: the following _do_ apply:

--Absolutely NO CHAIN MAIL. Spare us all the trite superstition, please.
--If you wish to forward material, try to keep it KMFDM-related. If you
think the content is iffy, contact me at .
--NO ATTATCHMENT FILES. I don't care what it is, attatchments can be a
HASSLE for memory reasons and for people who pay for their internet
online time. PLUS, it could contain a virus [i'm not talking about that
'good times' or 'penpal' garbage, but real, possibly infected files].
--CLEAN UP YOUR ADDRESS HEADERS before replying to a post. No one likes
to get mail twice or three times. Either send mail to an individual, or
              . Not both.
--REFRAIN FROM EXCESSIVE NON-PERTINENT QUOTING. It is exasperating to see
an entire post repeated when you are replying to only a fraction of it.
--The list maintainer reserves the right to unsubscribe any individual
that does not respect the loose guidelines set forth in the intro.
I'm going to watch this one. Spam or flame for no reason, even a few
times, i'll have your unsub message waiting for you asap. I don't enjoy
kicking people out, but I won't tolerate blatant idotic behavior.
--Flame wars and personal arguments are for personal email. Rational
discussions, even negative ones, are more than allowed!!
--Avoid sending one-liners like "KMFDM ROCKS, MAN!!!!" . *sigh*.
--TO UNSUBSCRIBE at any time from this list, mail majordomo@indiana.edu
with the subject header blank and the body of the message containing
  the line "unsubscribe jelindem_kmfdm@indiana.edu"
--Enjoy the list. That's what it's here for!! I'm sorry if I come off
sounding strict, I've just seen one too many lists get ruined by morons
who think harassing a whole list of other people is "fun". I promise
that as long as you act intelligently, I'll never get on your case.

NOTE: this list is not yet official. We'll wait and see if the band wants
to send updates/info or simply to keep in regular, semi-personal contact.
In case you didn't know, there is a KMFDM newsgroup, and it is titled
                            alt.music.kmfdm
LASTLY: BEFORE YOU ASK ANYTHING, VISIT HTTP://WWW.KMFDM.NET !!!!!!!!!!!!!
It might very well already be answered there by the band themselves.
                           RIP THE SYSTEM !!!

Hey, our first message! I go by iSvadrah, and thanks for the note! I think
it would be a good idea, actually, to begin our talk on this list with how
everyone got interested in the band [hmm, sounds like AA or something],
kmfdm concerts you've seen, favorite personal stories re: the band, etc.
Let's see who's out there! So far, after a day of very little advertising,
we already have 16 subscribers! Feel free to pass the word along, and I'll
continue to promote it...

As for the fear of msg flooding, spamming, flaming, etc, I'd like to try
and assure everyone I will do my best to supress the wankers that would
ruin it for us all... I've seen too many good lists get wrecked.

ACHTUNG!!

I just got an email from Sascha today regarding the mailing list, and
in it he said [and I quote]: "i think it's a great idea and i'd be happy
for you to set it up. i will make myself available as much as my schedule
allows." We now have the support of the band, and i'm awaiting the next
reply regarding how connected we'll be in terms of news, info, etc. Just
wanted to let everyone know the good news, and I want to see some posting!
;) To get the ball rolling, How does everyone feel about the ever-changing
sound of KMFDM? Though I fully agree that change is a powerful and often
good thing, I wonder how everyone feels about the change of KMFDM's sound
to parallel, though perhaps not intentionally, the current interest in
electronic music. Was this change intentional or calculated to succeed
based on that interest? Does anyone think that KMFDM feared criticism for
heavy use of guitar, especially as it was on XTORT [which is still a great
album, IMHO]? This is a great iopportunity to discuss KMFDM's newer sound,
as well as help to reveal the musical or instrumental tastes of list
members! BTW, list membership today is up well over 25 people, and subbing
requests have been coming in all day... Off to a great start!

Subject: [KMFDM] hi

I plan to lurk from now on, but here's some basic information...

I didn't get into KMFDM until 1995, but since then I've purchased quite a
few of the albums and singles. Other music I listen to includes:

Guitar and guitar industrial: Filter, NIN, Three Ton Gate, Course of
Empire, , 16volt, Chemlab, Sister Machine Gun, some Ministry, etc.

Electronic industrial: Covenant, Haujobb, Individual Totem, Forma
Tadre, XMTP, Leaetherstrip, Front Line Assembly, The Electric Hellfire
Club, and to a lesser extent Download, Coil, Pigface, C-Tec, ClockDVA...

Plus a few other bands in those genres and some bands that lean more
toward goth and techno.

If anyone wants to see pictures of KMFDM and Rammstein from last year's
Austin show, they are at http://ccwf.cc.utexas.edu/~alone/kmfdm.html

I also have some items for trade or sale, including the Don't Blow Your
Top 12" single (out of print), the Power 12", the Megalomaniac promotional
12", the original Naive CD, and the '84-'86 demos on tape. Please email
me if you're interested in any of those.

Subject: [KMFDM] Ramms+ein

Just to start some conversation:

I was talking to a friend who lived in Germany over the summer and he was
telling me about how popular Ramms+ein is in germany. He said that almost
every radio station played them. He also said that his friend bought 2 or
3 or thier albums while there. Is anyone familiar with thier discography
/
material? Imagine if that was possible here in the states. Pop on WBLAH
103.2 and hear them blasting SEHNSUCHT!

Subject: [KMFDM] Sascha's Top 10 of 1997
Newsgroups: alt.music.kmfdm

In a recent Allstar article, Sascha named his favourite 10 albums of
last year. They were:
1. Rammstein
2. Atari Teenage Riot
3. Shizuo Vs. Shizor
4. EC8OR
5. Fluke
6. Leftfield
7. Sugar Ray
8. Merchenaries
9. Bitch
10. Mark Stewart 8 Maffia
[Note: after reading this top 10 on a.m.k., Sascha let us know that it
is completely fake and manufactured by Allstar.]

Apparently, he's really big on the Digital Hardcore Recordings
label right now. Plus he has an Alec Empire quote in his sig file.
Could an Empire and/or DHR collaboration with KMFDM be in the works?
It has the potential to be some of their most intense, distorted,
and politically charged material to date...

Subject: [KMFDM] KMFDM LINKS [long]
Newsgroups: alt.music.kmfdm

I tried to collect as many KMFDM and related links
as possible, and house them under one roof. I thought
posting it to the ng would help, as links can be followed
right from the text. There may be falsified pages, and there
were omissions, so far mainly in the area of cd/live reviews.
Sorry if anyone feels their site was misrepresented. It
took many a 4 AM to find and visit/explore each page. Each
site is categorized by what i felt it most had to offer.
Sorry, this URL list doesn't have a home on the web yet in
this form... there are at least 70 LINKS listed, but there
are so many more still out there on the net.... Sorry for
the often vague descriptions. -iSvadrah
