JULY'S BRIDE

Here she comes in her summer dress of white
Yellow stained by the sweat of passing time
Hair so wild and eyes so lost
She weeps
She cries
In the night
July's bride.

A withered wreath of flowers for her hair
Reminders of a promise that was lost
Keepsake's placed within her grave
Their scent
So strong
How curious
July's bride.

Feet dusty from their wandering
Bramble-scratched and blistered
She trails behind her veils of weeds
Searching
The heat
For her love
July's bride.
