Over the last few months of the MDDM I regularly received (weekly, sometimes
daily) anonymous emails, usually with no message, but with dubious-looking
attachments (see below). I received another one last night. My ISP has
assured me they will try to "trace the source" and take "appropriate
actions". No prizes to anyone here for guessing who's behind it, however.

Subject: Email viruses

Hi

I've received a series of emails from various addresses over the past couple
of weeks, each with an attachment which I suspect is a virus. I think they
are being sent to me deliberately rather than accidentally. I've copied the
message and info of the most recent one below: it's the second time I've
received something from this address, but usually the message itself has
been blank and this time it wasn't. The subject line has varied each time.

This time the subject line read "A special funny website". The attachment
showed up as alt.pif, vasen[1].htm

I've deleted all of the suspect emails and attachments so far, but it really
does seem to be deliberate harassment. Is there any way of tracking the
sender of these emails. I've tried to reply to the email address, but those
emails just bounce back to me and so I suspect they are faked email
addresses.
