(at least I think that's German).  Recent mention of German translations
reminded me of this Apocryphal Story.  Harold Bloom, critic, meta-poet,
and (so he sez) speaking acquaintance of the Man, walks into the office
one day just after the _Vineland_ release was leaked.  "Strange," sez
he, "Thomas assured me the new book would come out first in German."

Well, sure.
