Sorry, old joke.
Doubtless there are many out there who've looked into the
extratextual connections. I can't shed any, well, light on
that, but I can suggest the predictable inter and intratextual
links:

1. Slothrop's childhood fear of the Northern Lights (since Slothrop
maps onto Tchitcherine; though NB Tchitcherine DOESN'T see the
K.L.)
(A further track here: the Hand that Slothrop fears = the Hand to
Turn The Time - ?)
2. "Will the light come before or after?" The flash of ignition
that precedes the blast of detonation in V-2 hits.
. Pointsman's dream (of the dancing Light) interrupted by "a
light tapping" (or is it a Light, tapping) at the door.
4. (ok this one is a stretch) The loss of the spectrum on the
downward leg of Gottfried's parabolic ride, colors Blicero-
Bleaching to dead white.
5. The implied black/white inversion of the final screen in the
doomed moviehouse, the inverse screen that displays "the film
we have not learned to see."

These are all pulled out of memory. If I went back and checked
my textbase I'd probably find some more.

One more connection: to the complex of Paranoia ("not yet blindingly
One") and Oedipa's "epilepsy" in Lot 49 (the burning-out of
consciousness, leaving behind an overexposed "blank," as the
truth assembles itself).

What's this all add up to? Air & angels. The film we have not
learned to see.

"A projective test..."
