Dates of comp for GR

Who knows, who really cares, but Bob what about that mention of
the tunnels numbered 1966-1971 in the surreal pusrusit-of-the-
enemy passage late in the novel (page handwave-handwave/handwave).
I've always naively and intuitively taken that to refer to the
writinglife of the novel.  Though it could just as well refer
to 5 years on the road or in some kind of relationship, set
of friendships, whatever.

I don't know what it means.  But like everything in the Rainbowe
it is significant.
