I'll bite, for the heck of it.  What about a repentant Jessica?  A saved 
Blicero from beyond, realizing the errors of his ways?  The e-coli 
bacteria itself? Katje?  Gottfried?  Or are these, a la Ambrose Bierce, 
the final thoughts of the bomb itself?

But I agree that it would be hard to think Slothrop wrote the book.  
Maybe it was the real assassin, of course, the same person, of Malcolm X 
and Kennedy?
