Hegemonic Discourse

Hiya P. listers, this is my first post so be gentle....

I am in the process of writing a paper on _GR_ investigating the deployment
of discourses, specifically areas where hegemonic and non-hegemonic
discourses clash and conflict (usually with a sympathy fo rthe
non-hegemonic).

One of the oft-quoted instances of this deployment is the scene between Roger
Mexico and Pointman (p. 88-89) talking about Pierre Janet and the ideology of
scientifism. I'm looking for other instances of as broad a range as possible.
I'm not sure if this is good academic form (tell me if it isn't), but I
wanted to know if you all out there in e-land had favorite or striking
examples of this sort of thing, I would be extremely interested in examining
them.

p.s. I'm still in the early stages of Pynchon studies--I'm involved in the
fun of researching and tracking down his stuff and what's been written about
him and his work. I just read his "Voice of the Hamster" in the _Purple and
Gold_ this morning--what fun!
