Bonnie, I am, as you might guess, an inveterate reader of Pynchon.  In
fact, on the Pynchon list we recently had an interesting discussion of
whether Pynchon is a "men's thing."  No women participated--in fact, I'm
not sure there are any women on the Pynchon list at all.  The paranoia,
agonism ,dichotomizing, abstraction, and techno-fetishism in Pynchon all
make him seem like the quintessential male writer--as a friend of mine said,
"the new age version of True magazine."  I still love his stuff, but what
can you expect?
