a question

Hello, folks, I'm new to the list and will enter with a question, or rather a
rumor, concerning _Vineland_ and whatever it is that TP might be or have been
working on.

When I was at Syracuse, I had a conversation with Tobias Wolf, who knows
Pynchon's editor.  Toby had it from the editor that Pynchon's been working on a
huge book since GR came out, that Vineland isn't that book but rather something
that he more or less tossed off quickly to fulfill a promise to his publisher. 
In the meantime, he's back at work now on the huge book.

This is probably all old news that everybody on the list knows, but it was
interesting to me and I wonder what anyone can tell me (in the way of
verification, repudiation, whatever).  Thanks,
