Basil asks about first edition covers.

Cliff Mead's _Bibliography_ provides photo's of the first-edition covers
(including a rejected cover for GR) for both the hard backs and many of the
paperbacks.  BTW, you know you have a real first edition of GR if on p. 86 l.
6 you have "Strobe" in place of Jamf.  Stuart Moulthrop wrote a nice piece on
this anomaly in Pynchon Notes 24-25, pp. 71-80.
