I don't think I've ever seen a cover for a hardback first edition. (I 
assume you mean GR?) I saw two copies of "V" for sale, a not too beat up 
first American edition and a so-so British first. One of them had a cover 
but I don't recall what it looked like or which of the two had it. The 
price, if I recall correctly was between $300-$400. I got the feeling it 
was somewhat negotiable. Any good used book store will have info on first 
edition prices.
