I don't know that you gotta be much of a western reader, or even that 
it's appropriate to consider Blood Meridian strictly to be a western. 
It is, however, a damn fine read, and the best piece of writing on 
the violence at the heart of America that I've seen in years.  Makes 
a great whitemale companion to Leslie Marmon Silko's Almanac of the 
Dead, too.
