electronic hypertextual or multimedia "novel," John Barth said (it was 
the focus of his entire speech) something like "I don't want to have to 
figure out Anna's thing for Vronsky;  what to do with Emma Bovary.  Let 
Tolstoy do his work;  I want Flaubert to TELL me."
