I, too, made a quick jump to concluding that the Irishman was some model 
of Joyce and Wyatt had taken on Daedalus aspects.  If this was mere 
happenstance, then so be it.

What some find sexy is utterly unexplicable to others.  Necrophilia has 
been around for a while, and tens of thousands find bullfights sexy.  
Whether or not I, personally, share in these attractions doesn't really 
matter.  That some do suffices to indicate that sex is whatever turns you 
on.  Cars, money, power, living-and-breathing human bodies that just 
happen to meet your own idealization of perfection?
