One of the writers of the John Laroquette show is apparently a big fan.
There is a recurring character (John's illegitimate daughter) who is named
Rachel Owlglass - a name she chose for herself after the character in V.
In another episode, Pynchon's anonymity is made into one of the subplots. If
I remember correctly, the homeless character claims that Pynchon is an old
friend and is coming to see him. No one believes him and at the end a
mysterious character who had been hanging out the whole episode is supposed
to have been him.
I recently saw posts on this list about the movie "The Net" as having
Pynchonesque themes of paranoia and "they" systems. Check out the new movie
"The Usual Suspects". It has an excellent plot which centers around a
mythologized figure of evil and the structure of his real or imagined power.
I'd give more detail but I don't want to give anything away.
