Demo/Sociographics: Anybody home?

Just an observation from a newcomer: As Christmas weekend started (let's say
Thurs. PM) traffic on this list dropped off about 90%.  Which means: What?
 That all academics, both under- and over-graduate have fled the U.'s?
  Those typing their minds from office or workplace are home for the
holidays.  Seems very few of us 1. are writing from home, 2. stayed put, and
3. have managed to keep some time for ourselves.
   
Not that I'm surprised.
   
Let's hear from the hearty few who remain -- from your kitchens, your dens,
your bedrooms, or, as in my case, from a corner of the living room, near a
city window, from which I talk to the world.

   [I leave this as an artifact to be found by those returning
                         after obscenely long vacations.]
