I'd love to know the same thing:

<Any Los Angeles residents out there who know what part of town the "Orpheus"
theatre _is_ or _was_ in? (It's the place featured in the closing section of
GR . . .>

I lived there myself (two wild years, late 60s, what else?) but I haven't got
a clue.

Bigger question, perhaps:

< . . .where the rocket MAY have been headed.>

I see three possibilities: 1. Orpheus, as above.  Why else that sudden shift
to the City of Angels?  (Silly of me to ask.)  2. London, where V.s (humm)
were all headed anyway, and well within range (which LA certainly wasn't in
pre-ICBM days, to be painfully literal); London also completing the circle,
GR as round-trip.  or 3. (and this is what I expected as I approached that
"last unmeasurable gap," and still puzzles me) the untested quadrant.  Much
talk of fireings to three points on the compass, each at 90x, with a fourth
yet to go.  The feeling I recall was of needing closure by fireing toward the
fourth.

      I suspect no answer.  Only opinion based on different readings of the
tea leaves.

      As I write, I'm about 80 pgs. from the end of V.  These are heady
times, so I'll be off to Malta.  If a "defenseless" fan I be, any crimes
perpetrated against me are victimless.
