In answer to Ted "Gregor" Samsel's query about the all-singing, all-dancing
GR, does anybody besides me remember, and can anybody source, a rumor that
TRP once approached John Cale about writing the music for an opera of GR?
Should that prove too easy, did I imagine a sort of desert-island discs
feature the LA Weekly used to run, in which one week a certain Roger Mexico
cited his favorite 5 current recordings? Would have been circa 1986 In
retrospect, I smell Michael Ventura's handiwork, but I wish I could find the
clipping. I know, I know, get a life.
And while I've still got a line left in this procrustean little screen
window, I just listened again to Laurie Anderson's Gravity's Angel track,
dedicated to the founder of our feast (as Cratchit used to call Scrooge - I
don't JUST read Pynchon). Now that Laurie seems safely ensconced in domestic
bliss with Lou Reed, will we ever know anything more about the shadowy
Anderson/Pynchon nexus?
Oh, and Mary Louise Parker should play the Adenoid.
As the fisherfolk say, tight lines,
