Gloss on Frenesi (the song)

  Tonight while listening to Smithsonian Radio Jazz, Artie Shaw's Big Bands
were featured. Gunter Schuller conducted *Frenesi*. Quite nice, having been
brought up on this stuff as a sprat.
  Schuller & the host (Bernice Reagan Johnson of Sweet Honey In the Rock..
I think) spoke of Shaw's trips to Mexico where he picked up the tune from 
mariachi bands. Tapes of interviews with Shaw were also played as was a
killer ver. of Hoagie Charmichael's *Stardust*.
