Oscillations, Fat Men, etc.

Please forgive my interpellation.

I'm deliberately importing terms carelessly. But there's also something
in that lack of clarity or specificity. Of course, Pynchon does the same
often. That he should use the expression, "fat boy," "fat man," or
whatever, especially in a form altered from its "original" use, is not
surprising, nor does it shift our focus away from the V-2, A-4, Hydrogen,
whatever bomb.
Also, if we're looking at a dissolution of language, it is even more
accurate (?)
And now, for a very childish and simplistic idea: this talk of vectors
makes me recognize that "v" appearing again. Sorry. Go ahead, let me
have it.

I'd also like to say one more thing. I am a novice here, fully, freely
admittedly so. I'm doing the best I can and have found this list the
most entertaining and useful, particularly in the kind and helpful
responses offered. But lately, the number of abusive and insulting
replies has been extremely upsetting. I feel like all of the sudden,
we're in a war to discover who is the most clever and who knows the most
about Pynchon, physics, characters, terms, whatever. Whereas I once
logged on to read excitedly, I now come only with timidity, wondering who
is going to pounce on my pedestrian efforts. Some others seem to've
noticed this trend and have chimed in with support for even the silliest
of ideas and/or mistakes (in terms of correction.)

I don't want to offend anyone. I'd just like to offer a small
look from way down here.
