Anyone out there like Pat Benetar(sp?)? The reason I ask is because
her last album was entitled Gravity's Rainbow. As I'm not a big enough fan
to buy her albums, I decided to pass this one up despite the
intriguing title.
The album came out about 1 1/2 years ago, and I was just wondering
if anyone had gotten this album and if so was it in reference to
our beloved TP?
As far as Vineland goes, it certainly wasn't what I expected, but it
nonetheless was a good book. It had the passages we loved so much
in V. and G.R. (sorry about CL49, but still can't bring myself
to talk about it in all too good terms). When I read this book I couldn't
help but think that TP was throwing our pop culture at our faces, trying
to point out the absurdities by using such exagerated characters as well
as the Mall mentality that we've become accustomed to. After all isn't
the Mall the 80's and 90's version of a commune?
Just my $.02 worth...
