I guess I can see why there is a supposed similarity between Zoyd Wheeler and Roky Erickson. But one must take into account that VINELAND's Califa is a hell of a lot different than Central Texas (Roky's stomping grounds). Califa might "fund" loons but that would never happen in Texas. (I just started a reread of VINELAND, btw.)
