    I think maybe this just has to do with living in Providence. I had a
    similar (terribly similar) dream about a year ago. I wasn't Pynchon but I
    read his new novel and was forced to use intravenous drugs. The two events
    were related. As a non-user of the latter, I was somewhat horrified.
    
    By the way, I'd love a bt more info on that Conan Doyle story. Can you
    send me a bibliographical reference?
