It was "The Wonderful, Horrible Life of Leni Riefenstahl". I caught the whole
thing and it was really fascinating. I'm not sure if she was rationalizing or
just naive, but she refuses to acknowledge any connection between art and its
content. According to her, "Triumph of the Will" was just a perfect film --
whether it was about politics or fruit was irrelevant to her.
I really enjoyed watching her interest in images, strength, and order through my
Pynchon goggles...
The film also illuminated an interesting facet of GR: I can't think of a single
book or movie about or set in WWII that doesn't mention Hitler...except GR.
Hitler is part of the faceless Them, I guess. He's irrelevant to the motion of
individuals through history.
