Pynchon's politics again

Gottfried inside the rocket thing:  First off the name-"God fried"-man 
and machine mate-means of redemption not thru compassion or grace but 
thru sheer mechanical power-"got fried"-not only is Pirate Christ-like, 
what about poor innocent Gottfried?-slaughter of innocents to obtain 
eternal wisdom or initiation to workings of eternal mysteries. (those who 
believe in a mechanical universe-that horror-we are just machines to be 
manipulated each and every way).
Gottfreid as Christ now firmly within the bosom of God the father-that 
damn rocket-his ascension to heaven-if I remember correctly, Gottfried's 
rocket doesn't ever fall-or return to earth.
Being a sicilian I am somewhat biased towards religious/catholic 
interpretations of these things...
