David,
You bring up some interesting points. There does seem to be an important
opposition set up in GR between those who love death and those who love life.
Its still unclear to me about Gottfried's will in this. Where in the book
does one find anything regarding Gottfried's feelings about what's happpening
to him. Katje, in a similar situation, gives us her feelings, ambivalent and
not, about what's happening to her. Gottfried seems totally passive or
opaque. Perhaps Gottfried's fate is that fate of all of us if we continue in
our passivity towards the Blicero's of the world. Has Gottfried made the
transition to inanimate object already or am I not giving him enough credit?
Does Gottfried, ensconced inside the giant rocket/penis mirror Slothrop when
he imagines himself inside his own cock?
And what exactly is the role of Imipolex-G? Slothrop conditioned to it and
Gottfried clothed in it.
