Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but it really seems
impossible to me to understand Pynchon without recourse to
the "underground"/campus cult classic/black humor vein of the
'Sixties. Everything from Heller (and Farina, natch, whom no
one's mentioned) thru Vonnegut, Jeremy Larner, Charles Simmons,
minor Grove Press authors, DIVINE RIGHT'S TRIP, etc. Nuh?
PS: I forwarded recently a message from Rudy Rucker on his
latest dabblings in the imipolex line, if you're wondering
where that came from.
