Ruggles at the Movies (Gratuitous Pynchon Referance)

While we are on the subject of movies & Pynchon, does anyone know the source
of the Yoyodyne Propulsion Laboratories referance in "Buckaroo Banzi: Through
the Eighth Dimension"?  I have never seen the comic book on which it was 
based, but perhaps someone out there has?  It's a fairly vapid and juvenile
movie, but I can't tell if it was a bad story or a bad page to screen 
translation...
