His last three novels (White Noise, Libra, Mao II) seem to
get the most talk, but I still lean toward two of his
earlier efforts (especially as starting points).
Both "The Names" and "Great Jones Street" are excellent
reads, and both raise some interesting issues about
the nature of personal identity and American society.
Each of his novels has Pynchonesque elements, though no
one strikes me as the most Pynchon-like.
