Grip wonders if Gaddis is worth it?

I've seen an analogy of TRPand Gaddis put thus:  TRP is to jazz as WG is 
to a symphony.  Doing the same stuff, but very differently.

"Recognitions" is also very different from "Frolic" or "JR."  It's 
actually a more conventional novel in form, complete with quotation 
marks.

Whether WG is worth reading is up to you, of course, but I think he's the 
second best American author going....
