The death of TRP's father reminds me that a former college
roommate of mine once told me that his father in Long Island
was a friend and attorney to Mr. Pynchon.  He also said that
his father did some legal work for TRP through his father.  
For his work, my friend's father received all of TRP's books,
but said he couldn't ever get past the first few pages.  He
also said he regularly received requests for information,
addresses, etc. 

Just my little bit of inside info about our hero.
