I've used this film twice, in units I study with my students.  It is 
indeed powerful.  When I show the film, we watch, then leave.  We 
don't/can't deal with it immediately after the viewing.
"Renais?"  That name seems off.

One of the wildest sights I ever saw appears in that film.  Wild.  I mean 
you can't process it.  A stack of blankets.  Loosely woven fibers catch 
the light and you eventually realize they just might be human hairs (I'm 
convinced they are.)  The controversial tatooed skin appears also.  I 
recently heard (I forget where--a pub TV WWI doc. around May 8?) a man 
say he did not find it completely plausible--that the tatoos were on 
skin.  He said you couldn't really be sure what the material was--"it 
could have been skin," he recalled.  His head kept going side to side, 
just like mine.
