Well, jeepers foax, maybe it *is* Tom, carrying a Redwood-sized chip on
his shoulder over Nat's use of the phrase "these Pyncheon jackanapes"
in reference to Rev. Thomas Ruggles Pynchon's remonstrating about his
use of the Pynchon name in _The House of the Seven Gables_ [1851]!
