diFillipo's impersonation

Paul diFillipo suggests a scenario in which TRP dies and is ghosted
by another writer.  Does this sound odd to anyone else?

Perhaps it should run this way?

Paul diFillipo, a noted literary scholar of Pynchon, dies, potentially
leaving an unfillable gap in the critical elucidation of the figure's
work.  Rather than leave lesser minds to the important task, Pynchon
assumes diFillipo's persona, going so far as to join this list and
keep up diFillipo's front by suggesting that he himself died and
has been 'replaced'. (Perhaps also miffed that _Vineland_ hasn't
received the praise it should on this list and therefore ironically
commenting on it.)

The other possibility is that Wanda Tinasky is diFillipo's secret
correspondant and/or lover, and that there never was A Thomas Pynchon,
just her.   BTW, Wanda Tinasky also spells "Want Day Skin"!  Coincidence?
I think not.
