As an ardent X-Files fan and Pynchon-watcher, I can attest to the fact that
there have been no references to Pynchon on the show. As the characters
deal with "paranormal" events, however, and each have a quirky sense of
humor, a reference to Pynch is not far-fetched. Duchovny has also been
writing and/or providing stories for many episodes, so perhaps some
reference lies in the future.

BUT... speaking of Pynchon references on TV: I was watching Lou Grant today
on A&E. The LA Trib's publisher (Margaret Pynchon) has a little dog that
turned up missing, the victim of a melodramatic dog-fighting ring. When
reporter Joe Rossi investigates and finds the little pup's collar, he reads
of the name. I only half-heard it, but I'd swear he said "Mrs. Thomas
Pynchon."

Ain't that sumpthin'?

What is most appealing about young folks, after all, is the changes, not
the still photographs of finished character but the movie, the soul in
flux. -- Thomas Pynchon
