Has anyone seen this from Newsday last week?

"At the height of the Cold War during the 1950's scientists investigated the
consequences of atomic tests by "body snatching" as one leader of the project
termed it-obtaining bones and whole bodies of deceased urban poor from New
York City and around the world."

This was a top secret AEC program called "Project Sunshine". They collected
hundreds of cadavers to analyse the bones for strontium 90 derived from
h-bomb fallout.

Reminds me of Pointsman wandering about the London night searching for stray
dogs. Visions of biophysicists skulking around cemetaries guuiltily hiding
picks and shovels under their lab coats.
The story does have a happy ending. The data they collecting helped bring
about a ban on atmoshperic testing, they say.
