Pirate's Gift

This is my first missive to this group-speak on Pynchon so here it goes:

Recently, I read GR for the third time-the 1st time I gave up when
Tchitcherine was introduced, the 2nd I managed to be throughly confused
by the end, and this 3rd time I got smart and read with the help of
Steven Weissman(?) A guide to GR (still confused).-not easy to do on the
NYC subway.
The one thing that struck in my mind was Pirate's dream in the
beginning-could one make the claim that the whole book, in effect, is
Pirate's dream; him being a fantasy surrogate and all; and if he is being
"run by them", just whose dream is he dreaming at the beginning? Could
this dream be a symbol of ultimate rebellion to reality (forgive me that
phrase) or a sinister ploy by Them?
What I'm saying is: Is Pynchon really Pirate? Is Pirate Pynchon's
consummate dream?
What do you think?
I think much of the Kenosha discussion will always lead nowhere-I doubt
if TP could give an adequate explanation.
