A Kute Korrespondence in regards to Don Larsson's last posting
regarding "the notion of film as a false and analytical represen-
tation of reality" (and much else that followed).

I remember catching a history of computers on PBS which mentioned
an obscure German scientist who was working on computers and
programming during WWII. Because of the unavailabilty of materials
(such as punch cards) on which to encode programs, this guy
had to get quite inventive. His solution was to punch holes in
old films and run them through a reader. What do you want to
bet that in some alternate reality (or TRP dream) the discarded
films of Greta end up getting encoded with algorithyms for
bombing trajectories? (Sorry I can't recall this guy's name,
but I imagine others must also have caught the show).
