Systems may break my bones but names...

Foax,
While we are on the subject of systems and the power of naming I
thought I would recommend those who have read to recall and those who
have not read to seek out Don DeLillo's `The Names'. Apart from that
remarkable passage on entropy in JR and a desire to critique the US
and its myriad systems I see little real connection between Pynchon
and Gaddis, stylistic or thematic. But on the strength of `White
Noise' and the above recommended volume DD is a different marmite de
poissons. He explicitly takes up and amplifies themes which Pynchon
bounces with his usual tangential swoop. And some of the language in
`The Names' even had me scanning `Gravity's Rainbow' for reassurance
in the face of nascent deja vu.
