Dear Andrew,
You write:
"What is amazing about V and GR is that they do not address American
genocide. Where is the mention of the native peoples of the Americas."
There is a brief aside on page 73 of the Bantam paperback edition of
GRAVITY'S RAINBOW. Right before Slothrop chases his harp down the toilet,
"'Cherokee' comes wailing up from the dance floor below, over the hi-hat, the
string bass, the thousand sets of feet where moving rose lights suggest not
pale Harvard boys and their dates, but a lotta dolled-up redskins. The song
playing is one more lie about white crimes."
One of the most amazing things about Pynchon is how he is always throwing in
little sarcastic asides and digressions that are incredible thoughts in and
of themselves. Pynchon's little throw-aways are often more substantial than
whole chapters by other authors. The density of his work is amazing.

ps: I also think DeLillo's THE NAMES is an amazing book. I don't know if I
see as much connection with Pynchon as you, though. DDL's MAO II feels
closer in spirit to Pynchon, to me. Pynchon wrote a blurb for the jacket
cover of this book. You can read it on the Pynchon home page.
