Re GE and GR:
Aside from the indirect influence of Ronald ("At GE, Progress is our most 
important product) Reagan, TRP might have been intrigued by the influence
of the GE plant in the Berkshires, cited in THE BERKSHIRE HILLS, which
TRP used as background for Mingeborough.

The plant there made plastic casings (fairing for the winds of cognition?)
for various appliances, among other things.
