In one of life's little synchronicities, I just-literally-finished
watching _Prospero's Books_ and logged-on to check my email. I sympathize
with your bafflement, Vince. The film, as you may know, is an adaptation of
Shakespeare's _Tempest_, with a significant amount of imaginative
extrapolation. Ironically, I was thinking about our GR/Movie discussion
here as I watched it and found my mind doing the same kind of sensory
gymnastics that Pynchon evokes. The screen is flooded with so many
archetypes at any given moment, you really feel as if your mental state is,
well, bleeding? I found it quite disturbing/intriguing...if you know what I
mean.A really wide-bandwith film...I'd be interested to here reactions from
people.
