It may also by "St. Anthony's Fire" - I recall a curse from Rabelais' 
Gargantua "May the fire of St. Anthony fly up thy fundament".

Judging by the artistic treatments I've seen about the temptations of St. 
Anthony his was a nasty trip as well.
