Mr. H.A.G. writes: ". Makes one want to laugh at that farcical notion
that the
information age means greater freedom of information. While I
wouldn't go as far as saying that this story was carried world-wide
(or at least in those parts of the world where IBM 'operates) so as
to serve as a warning to the would-be intrepid investigative journo,
it does seem to suggest a lot about the info sources used by the
world's press."

That story was covered in the NY Daily News, not a publication one would
approach with half-a-brain. As for the same story re-hashed, look at
TV/Cable news coverage--take out all the stories that begin or include
sayings such as "official sources say", "government sources say", "Bill
Clinton's left nut says", how many stories would they be able to
broadcast? And now they're adding 24-hour news channels! It's gonna get
to the point where people are gonna want their news before it happens. I
can just see it: studio audience says...press 1 for robbery, press 2 for
sodomy, press 3 for lobotomy.
I'm also interested about the Olympics and coverage of the Olympics. I
just can't stand it anymore. Can that many people be so fucking stupid?
