The reason behind such bad coverage on networks is less that the
public is eating this sap up, and more that the networks simply don't
know how to broadcast sporting events, and apply the same production
values that they use for soap operas.

Yeah, has anyone seen what the Fox Network has done to hockey? (It's
criminal, trust me.)

In reference to the Olympics and NBC, the network was making a
conscious effort to attract more women viewers (how frickin' offensive
to sport-watching chicks like myself) so they only showed the glam
events - hours of mutant teenage ninja gymnastics and hunko guys in
spandex jumping off platforms and leaping into the air. And it musta
worked, because their ratings were astronomical.

Ratings = LCD = Capitalism at its finest.

Jean.
