As I recall it's pronounced FRENesi in the title, but freneSI in the refrain.

"WHO would'nt SING freneSI" or something close.

artists, though in different ways

Artie was almost too serious to play jazz (though of course he did) where as TP had no such compunctions about the popular

In a time of crisis (I guess finishing a first novel is a crisis) each headed off for Mexico. Was it there A.S. picked up the Latin beat--or had the song already been introduced up north. Kind of think the former. Artie brought it back.

Shaw married alluring women whereas P wrote about them.
