Yah, this is what I was really trying to say, although I see Benny more as
being drawn in towards Rachel, while running into Josefina was after he
had chosen to go to Malta and broken the cycle. Benny starts
overseas, arrives on the East Coast, and then proceeds to ricochet
back and forth, eventually zeroing back in on Rachel, with whom
he begins a tentative courtship, a close-range yo-yoing at high
frequency, without ever landing on...the spot.

Yeah, that would about do it for me. :) Although I think Don pretty much
nailed what I was trying to get at, and then some.
